So my run today wasn’t an easy one. I didn’t want to run at all. I didn’t want to try to push my limits. I didn’t want to get out of the house, truth be told. I really didn’t run well, either. My time per mile was longer today. I didn’t even run as long as I wanted to run. I wanted to push myself and see if I could make it to 3 miles and I only made it to 2.5. But you know what?

It was successful. I was successful. I made a commitment to run, whether or not I felt like it. And I ran. I ran longer than I ran yesterday, even if I was a bit slower.

And in the end, I felt amazing. I mean, after I finally got up off the floor and started moving again. As much as I hate the word “discipline” this is what it’s all about. You can’t commit to something only when it’s easy. You do it, no matter what and the reward pays off. Tomorrow will be my rest day and then Sunday I’ll hit it all over again for another six consecutive days.

My time will improve. My pace will get better. All those metrics I evaluate myself on will show that the discipline and consistency WILL pay off.

Whatever you’re feeling called to do. Just do it and stick with it. Even on days you don’t feel it. It will pay off.

It will.
