Do you feel like you sell yourself short? I do. Constantly. Most of the important people in my life, people I trust deeply, throughout my life, have told me I don’t see my own value…that I need to understand the worth I have within myself, to others, anywhere and everywhere. And I don’t think I’m unique in that. It seems to be part and parcel to the human condition.
Sure, when I’m eating well, exercising, working on myself inside and out, it’s easier to take that momentum and feel good about myself - but it’s really more that I feel good about improving myself which, inadvertently, becomes more associated with “improving my worth” and it’s a slippery slope. As soon as I feel like I let someone down, be it a family member or a client, or the minute I eat way too much carrot cake or don’t exercise or whatever, that devaluation quickly creeps back in and I feel the NASDAQ of my self worth drop like Netflix has this past week.
Friends, we have to get off this cycle. Our worth is not tied to whether or not we do the “right” things, however you define those things. We don’t do those things to increase our worth. We do them BECAUSE of our worth.
Do not sell yourself short. Not today.
Sure, take it one day at a time but start today. Let’s do it today and tomorrow we’ll deal with tomorrow. But today, on this gorgeous Friday ahead, from sunup to sundown…let’s feel our worth. I mean, we made it this far, right?
Do not sell yourself short today.
