Almost ten years ago, I was speaking to about 200 realtors in Clear Lake about digital marketing and this was my opening line to them. This quote from one of the most influential psychologists of the last century encapsulates our dilemma as humans, simply yet so profoundly.
We have a choice between staying safe and comfortable OR moving into change and growth. We cannot stay safe AND grow. We cannot be comfortable AND change. Moving towards the latter takes letting go the former.
Today, I move forward into growth because I am continually committed to providing the absolute best tools, best support, and best service for my agents, our clients, and our community. Renew Realty Group has partnered with and has become brokered by eXp Realty.
This was a decision long in the making and one I surprise myself with in many ways.
When new, innovative brokerage models hit the market, we often struggle to find ways to understand their implications and in those struggles we sometimes make misjudgments or have misunderstandings about them. I resisted eXp a long time because of my own misjudgment and misunderstanding. As I dug further into their business model, I became more and more convinced they have developed a model that absolutely resonates with my own value system and echoes my own goals in creating my brokerage, Renew Realty Group: To build a real estate brokerage through equitable compensation models so that we can help agents build their own businesses and futures.
My drive has always been to help people. That’s why I was a pastor for 13 years in the early part of my adulthood. That’s why I was trained as a life coach and business coach after leaving occupational ministry. That’s why I became a realtor, now 8 years ago.
As a real estate professional, my clients (my friends who utilize my expertise to buy and sell property) deserve my unwavering best to help them achieve their goals of building intergenerational wealth for themselves and their loved ones. Along the way, they deserve compassion in their process, stellar representation of their goals, the utmost of confidentiality in their circumstances, and the best guidance and education through the process. As a broker, my agents deserve the absolute same thing - my unwavering best to help them achieve their goals of building intergenerational wealth for themselves and their loved ones, the best coaching and mentoring they could ever receive, compassion and trust through their business practices as they intersect real life challenges, and incredible support every step of the way.
Why do I do this? Because it’s in my blood. As a second generation realtor, I was raised in a home where I watched my mom do this for so many others and her legacy is one of constant help, compassion, instruction, and companionship. At her funeral, almost 5 years now next month, the line of clients, colleagues, and friends was almost innumerable as so many people came and hugged me, my wife, and our kids and told us story after story of how she had touched their lives in so many ways….helped them…taught them…. Her influence and her impact go on and on as I help those same clients, their kids, and an entire new sphere of friends and colleagues as well. This is what it is all about. This is what it’s always been about.
Standing here, looking forward into the future, this new partnership with eXp only exponentially multiplies that capacity and takes that vision further than I could have taken it on my own. This is the Future of Renew Realty Group and I’m excited to say this is now also the Present.
